Airport Diagoras is an international airport located 17km from the new city of Rhodos which is built by the Medieval Town. During the summer many international regular charter flights are available connecting the island with all european main airports as well as most of the central world airports. Many local daily flights are also operational like Athens, Thessaloniki, Heraklion (Crete), Kos, Kastellorizo, Karpathos, Leros.
Sea Connections are available through the commercial harbour situated in the city, which hosts International and local
ferries. There are regular ferry lines conecting Rhodes to Athens (Piraeus), Thessaloniki, Heraklion, Cyprus and Turkey. Rhodes is the
connection to the rest of Greece for all neighbouring islands through extensive boat and hydrofoil services.
During the touristic period, daily cruises to the divine island of Symi (its Neoclassical settlement is being protected by UNESCO) are
conducted by boats leaving from the central port or the marina of Rhodos town - opposite the New Market. The trip to Symi lasts only one hour.
The next nearest island to Rhodos is the picturesque Chalki. Frequent Boat trips to Chalki are also conducted from Rhodos.
